Beginner to Beginner: What I wish i knew before starting digital marketing
As a business student, I thought I had a fair idea of what marketing was. I had studied it in theory : marketing is basically presenting your product, service, or business to the right audience. So when I heard the term digital marketing, I assumed it just meant doing the same thing online maybe through ads, social media, and email. Simple, right? Little did I know... Digital marketing is not just marketing on digital platforms. It's a whole new world, one that’s bigger, deeper, and a whole world than I imagined. When I joined a digital marketing course, I realized just how much there is to learn: SEO (Search Engine Optimization) SMM (Social Media Marketing) Web development Content creation Email marketing Analytics and tools…and the list goes on. Every module introduced me to something new: a tool I had never heard of ever, a technique I had no clue ever existed, and terms that sounded like a whole new language. I remember feeling overwhelmed at times, but also incredibly fascinated. What surprised me the most? That digital marketing is not just about promoting something, it’s also about strategy, timing, data, and connecting with real people and build connection in meaningful ways. It’s creative, technical, and analytical all at the same time. I’m still learning (and probably always will be). But one thing is clear: Digital marketing has huge scope. It’s fast-paced, dynamic, and always evolving. It’s not just a skill, it’s a way to understand how things actually work in real life. To anyone just starting out... If you're a student , just stepping into this space, don’t worry if you feel a little lost. That’s normal. Stay curious, stay open to learning, and most importantly....enjoy the process. Because trust me, digital marketing is not just a career path. It’s way more than that and you will fall in love with it eventually.
